  1.                        VICARDOC - Program Readme File.

  3. NOTE - This program and the companion programs included require DOS 3.0 or
  4. higher to run properly.
  5.  
  6. The second ZIP file [VICARDOC.ZIP] should contain the following files:
  7.  
  8.         Readme.1st   - This file.
  9.         VccPRINT.EXE - Program for printing out the Documentation files.
  10.         VccPRINT.HLP - Help file for the above program.
  11.         *.PDF        - Printer Driver files for the above program.
  12.         VIC*.LST     - Documentation files for VICAR.

  15. PROGRAM INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS - for ease of installation UNZIP the
  16.         contents of the ZIP File: VICARPGM.ZIP to either a Floppy disk or a
  17.         Temporary Directory, whichever is more suitable to your needs.
  18.         UNZIP the contents of the ZIP File: VICARDOC.ZIP to another floppy
  19.         disk or another directory.
  20.  
  21.         FLOPPY or HARD DISK INSTALL: From the documentation disk, run the
  22.         program, with the following Document File specified following the
  23.         Program Name:

  25.                 A>VccPRINT VICINST.LST
  26.  
  27.         From the program menu displayed, select: W hich Printer.
  28.  
  29.         The program will display a list of Printer Driver Files to select
  30.         from. Select the one that is the closet to your type of printer. If
  31.         no exact matches, select E dit Printer Codes; to define the codes
  32.         needed to operate your printer correctly for each of the
  33.         attributes.

  35.         If a driver already exists for your printer then goto the next
  36.         section.

  39.         PRINTER DEFINITION - SETUP CODES -
  40.  
  41.            The INITIALIZATION and Reset Codes are NOT needed
  42.            unless you have your printer to setup to something
  43.            other than the standard 10CPI, 66 Lines/Page, 80
  44.            Column format.  The only codes you might want to use
  45.            here are to invoke LQ or NLQ Print.

  47.  
  48.            DOUBLESTRIKE, SUPERSCRIPT, SUBSCRIPT, and  are not
  49.            used in the Files and are therfore NOT NEEDED.
  50.  
  51.            CONDENSED PRINT and Reset Codes should be initialized
  52.            to put your printer into and out of 12CPI.  This is
  53.            needed to print Screen layouts on a standard 8.5"x11"
  54.            piece of paper.
  55.  
  56.            ITALIC PRINT, if not available on your printer you
  57.            might want to specify: Enhanced, Double-Strike or some
  58.            other method which will make the text stand out from
  59.            the rest.

  61.            Make sure to Change the Device name to the correct one if
  62.            different from that displayed.

  65.            When done Select: S ave Printer Setup, and specify a
  66.            name for the Driver you have just created.

  69.         PRINTING A FILE - When ready to print the file indicated,
  70.         Press P to Print.  If the file does not look like it is
  71.         printing out properly, Press any key to stop printing,
  72.         ESCAPE to abort.

  74.         Read the section printed for a detailed description of
  75.         what information is needed before and during the
  76.         installation process.
